 Workshops and Professional training

Learning from top underwater professional photographers at formal workshops and one-on-one training appointments as well as in the water.

Steven Miller with Ikelite Photo School will be hosting advanced workshops at this year’s Manta Fest photography festival. Steve is hosting workshops where we can expect to learn about shooting split images, big animals in natural light as well as his professional post-capture tricks.

Frank Schneider teaches German and English workshops and will talk about shooting big animals, shooting sharks at Vertigo, working with models and show us how he sharpens his images and corrects color using Photoshop.

Ray Bullion will be hosting compact camera workshops, teaching photographers how to get the most out of non-dSLR camera systems. Ray will be demonstrating Vivid Pix photo editing software and hosting Ikelite demos.

Brad Holland, house photographer at Manta Ray Bay Resort, will talk about shooting in Yap, plan special photographic excursions in and out of the water as well as present his media at the Crow’s Nest after hours.

Video workshops and contest

This year  Manta Fest will also have Andy Shumacher who will be available for one-on-one video training throughout the event. Andy will present his latest media at the Crow’s Nest after dark and judge video entries.

Private one-on-one training

Aside from the daily workshop schedule there is one-on-one private training available to all Manta Fest participants. Each professional has their own approach at their photography skills; managing the archive, sharpening images, color balancing and there’s both popular post production Adobe products, Lightroom and Photoshop to learn.

Whether it is how to get close to an animal, what to look for, how to compose behavior or develop your shot on a computer, the information is here and available day and night throughout Manta Fest.

 The Cultural Experience

One of the photo contest categories is “People, Land and Culture”.
